The regular routine of the House is disrupted for Adriana and Sito one evening when an Ebene called Tier visits the office.
He kidnaps them and brings them to an Ebene controlled realm. They're sucked through a portal and find themselves in
a mysterious cage. Adriana and Sito demand to be released, but Tier laughs, telling them that they are prime specimins
and that people will pay good money to see them. They suddenly realize that they are in some kind of Ebene zoo as the
Hylian exibit. When Tier leaves, they attempt to use Farore's Wind to get out of the cage. Instead, they end up
in another cage with two strange humanoids called Nietzcheans. Atalanta, the female, explains that there is no escaping
from the zoo. All of the creatures on display are bonded together by a toxin, meaning that they cannot be separated.
That is why Farore's Wind could not teleport the Hylians out of the zoo.
Sito and Ana try to figure out a way to take Tier when he's feeding the animals, but Atalanta informs them that he sends
food by a portal and only makes appearances when something goes wrong. Together, they formulate a plan to get his attention
by gathering all the bonded creatures into one cage. Atalanta and her mate, Panahasi, warn them that it will not be
so easy to bring everyone together, as many of the different races hate each other. Adriana is determined to make peace
to facilitate an escape. Atalanta and Panahasi agree to let their cage be used as a staging area to get Tier's attention.
The Hylians teleport off and find themselves in the cage of two Werewolves, Will and Ninkou. Adriana and Will have
a logical discussion, while Ninkou makes clear her distrust for the Hylians, despite Sito's attempts at soothing her.
In the end, Will convinces his mate to trust the strangers and together, the four teleport to the Vampire cage. The
Vampires, Iselia and Bryce, are reluctant to cooperate, but Sito cuts a deal, offering himself up as a meal as long as they
don't kill or turn him. Iselia bites Sito, but Bryce pulls her back, satisfied that the Hylians are genuine. They
agree to help.
The group next teleports to a cage holding two Lirins called Farren and Korial. The cute, flying hampsters quickly
prove to be real monsters, capable of mass destruction. They chase after Sito and Bryce, but instead of eating them,
begin eating their clothing. Promising them more clothing to eat, the group quickly move on to a strange wooden cage.
There, they hear two voices arguing loudly. Adriana recognizes one and as they race toward the sound, they discover
two ghosts, a woman named Natalie and, of all people, Warren.
The Hylians learn that Warren's been in the zoo for about three months. The cage is made of ash wood. He
and Natalie do not get along and continually bicker and beat each other up. Despite her misgivings about Warren, Adriana
organizes the group and they all teleport to the Nietzchean cage where Atalanta and Panahasi are waiting. With all the
zoo animals gathered in one cage, Tier soon appears to set things right.
The zoo inmates overpower Tier. Korial holding him in her teeth, Warren phasing into his leg so he can't move it,
the others threatening with fangs, claws, and swords. Afraid for his life, Tier surrenders and agrees to send them all
home. A portal is formed, leading back to the Phoenix House. Lief and Ariadne, in the lobby, immediately dust
the Vampires. Atalanta and Panahasi visit Joey who sends them home again. Will and Ninkou depart for the woods,
but the Lirins decide to hang around. Meanwhile, Adriana and Warren make peace, only to be interrupted by Natalie announcing
her intentions to hang around for awhile.
