Tranns approaches Adriana with an idea to start up rebellions similiar to the Phoenix Fighters and the Aki of Gonogah
in some of the other Ebene conquered territories. Her plan is insightful, but ambitious and Adriana is forced to turn
down the proposal, causing a slight rift between the friends. Much to everyone's surprise, however, news comes from
Ione. The Aki have been nearly triumphant in driving the Ebene out of Gonogah, however, a small pocket of resistence,
led by Felsen's exiled sister, Meggot, remains.
Short on funds, Meggot has traveled to Calatia. Under the pretense of raising money to fund the rebuilding of war
torn Prynne, she is throwing a gala with invitations to all the richest families in the realm. Adriana and Aden decide
to send a team to Calatia to put an end to the resistence. They have Casey mix a potion that will block Meggot's portal
forming abilities, trapping her in the realm and cutting her off from her people in Gonogah. Despite Aden's protests,
Adriana decides to go personally, having a great bit of experience in socialite affairs. She brings along Tranns for
protection. Tranns has misgivings, however, recalling her failed experience in the past of dealing with socialites and
the disaster that ensued when her mother attempted to bring her to court.
Along the road, Adriana tries to teach Tranns proper behavior, but she is reluctant to become like Ana's old friends,
led by Dagmar Hagen, who treated her badly for being Bui Doi. Adriana admits that she too used to make the same
jokes, but comforts Tranns by promising that she never once made fun of her with all the others. Together, they arrive
at the gala, pretending to be Hylian missionaries. Tranns befriends the buffet table while Adriana mingles with socialites,
the parents of her old friends. She is ill at ease around Primus Hagen, Dagmar's father and a one time lover, but manages
to charm everyone.
The conversation casually turns to the situation in Shaldani. When Adriana shares some information about the Ebene
that is not common knowledge, Meggot grows to suspect Adriana is not, as she claims to be, Sister Isa Botan of Pyrnne.
She orders her valet Triano to take Adriana out of the room and discover her true identity. He pulls her away from the
dance and takes her to a dark study where he begins to question her. Adriana, however, uses her powers to keep him at
bay, summoning Tranns telepathically for help.
Tranns tries to leave the ballroom to charge to Ana's rescue, but the racist party guests detain her. Meanwhile,
Meggot arrives in the study to question Adriana personally. Adriana uses their daggers against them and is about to
kill both when suddenly a four year old Dagmar comes in, calling out to her mommy who turns out to be Meggot. Adriana,
although shocked, threatens to kill Triano if she is not released. Much to everyone's surprise, Meggot pushes Triano
into the dagger.
Clinging protectively to Dagmar, Meggot insists on being left alone. Adriana angrily challenges her right to Gonogah,
but Meggot passionately declares that she has no desire to take Gonogah at all. After living years in exile among the
Hylians, she's built up a life for herself as Primus' wife and she's content to let the Aki reign. The only reason she
was raising funds to fight against was because Triano and the other Ebene were forcing her hand. She accepts Adriana's
offer to drink the potion that will trap her in the realm. Adriana gives it to her and the crisis is averted, leaving
Ana to wonder at the irony of the fact that her rival and friend Dagmar, who made fun of others, was actually a Bui Doi.
She takes the money and Tranns, returning home a bit more confused than before.
