Casey and Shawn's marriage is strained when Casey is visited by Quinn in her bedroom.  He attempts to seduce her and she comes close to giving in before realizing how much she loves Shawn.  He leaves her with a bell, telling her to summon him whenever she's ready.  Casey confides in Lex that she's been feeling very lonely and Lex immediately urges Shawn to do something about it, leading to high tensions in the kitchen.  Casey and Shawn talk and agree that they need to try to salvage their marriage, so they request leave.  Under the cover of night, Philip sneaks the two of them across the border and they head for Hyrule.

Before they can begin to reconcile, Shawn and Casey find themselves drugged by a fruit vender.  They wake in an abandoned warehouse, locked in cells and guarded by Krieg's newest henchman, an ancient vampire named Jean Claude.  Jean explains that Krieg sent him after them.  Right on cue, Krieg appears, threatening them, should they attempt to escape.  Casey attempts to get Shawn freed, but Krieg responds with an order to Jean to kill her.  Shawn reacts passionately, causing Krieg to relent.

Krieg asks Shawn if he trusts Casey.  Shawn passionately declares that he does, with his life.  He attempts to fight Krieg, but is easily defeated.  Krieg stabs him with a poisoned dart.  When Casey asks him what he wants, Krieg merrily informs her the entire ordeal is just for fun.  He gives her a notebook and pencil, telling her she has a limited amount of time to try and devise an antidote.

Casey is completely helpless, watching as Shawn begins to deteriorate.  She frantically writes down his symptoms.  As Shawn's condition worsens, Krieg provides Casey with additional supplies, eventually giving her the equivalent of an entire laboratory.  She starts mixing chemicals, struggling as Shawn gets sicker and sicker.  Eventually, Casey determines the poison to be Beggar's Deceit.

She mixes up several chemicals, building an antidote which Krieg administers to Shawn.  As he begins to recover, Casey spills chemicals across the floor of her cell, near Jean, lighting them on fire.  She throws several bottles of chemicals toward him and Krieg, causing a river of fire.  Krieg laughs, collapsing the building and escaping with Casey's notes.  Shawn and Casey survive the fire, embracing each other publically for the first time.
