Ariadne, meanwhile, begins to undergo elogium.  Spring fever brings another surprise to the House, however, in the form of Adriana and Philip's mother and stepfather, Kally and James, from this timeline.  Following the latest Philip Dragmire events, Kally and James have developed an increasing interest in the House and want to help.  They bring with them supplies, good cheer, and the morale booster that everyone's been waiting for.  Kally charms the Phoenix Fighters with comfort and cookies while James entertains them.  Kally even throws a little party for her two children and their significant others, giving Aden her blessing to marry Adriana.

 

Philip and Ariadne complete the elogium cycle and Philip soon begins to develop wings, a fact that frightens Ariadne.  She confides in Lief that she is afraid of killing him, but sees no real alternative.  Philip, meanwhile, is thrilled and requests flying lessons.  As the two of them are about to set out however, a shock comes to the House.  A portal opens directly over the Phoenix House.  While the House protects the inhabitants, James, Kally, and Mia, on the roof, are exposed to its deadly energies.

 

Kally and Mia have both traveled through time and are immune to the soul sucking effects.  James, however, an ordinary Human, is taken by the portal.  Panic fills the House quickly and the Phoenix Fighters realize that they only have half an hour to save James' life.  Philip finally suggests that they turn to Krieg for help and everyone carries James down to the basement.  Krieg demands food and Philip getting down on his knees before he'll help the Phoenix Fighters.  When both are delivered, he is released from the cage.  True to his word, Krieg restores James' soul.

 

As the Phoenix Fighters celebrate, Krieg escapes with a flourish, leaving them with a bittersweet victory.  Mia, however, announces that after seeing Krieg restore a soul, she might be able to duplicate the spell.  Partly out of gratitude and partly out of paternal love, Kally and James agree to open a special suite in the hotel they own called the Phoenix Fighters Suite.  The money earned from people staying in this suite will go directly to funding the Phoenix Fighters.  They collect various objects from each Phoenix Fighter to display and promise free board to all future Phoenix Fighter R&Rs in Catalan.
