Ten years into the future, the lovers Tranns and Philip meet on a balcony in one of the poorer sections of Mido.
Bitterly, they reflect on a horrible explosion that killed all their friends in the Phoenix House, years ago. Their
vie for the Ocarina of Time, the instrument that can help them change the past, has failed due to the efforts of Milady and
her servant Primus. They are met by their companions, Thistle and Percy, Humans from the Ebene-occupied Calatia with
information regarding the possible whereabouts of the Ocarina, but before a plan can be set in motion, the inn explodes in
a fireball. The four just barely manage to escape, recognizing the bomb as the work of Primus.
The motely crew pay a visit to Wiley the Snitch, a squirrely Hylian barman they blame both for their failure to capture
the Ocarina and possibly giving away their location to Primus. Easily intimidated, Wiley gives them the information
the underground has brought him about the Ocarina. Despite the fact that the Ebene claim to have all the Hylian artifacts
of North Castle, they don't. The artifacts, including the Ocarina, have been moved by the Hylian magistrates to Shaldani
for safekeeping under the belief that the Ebene wouldn't think to look for it in their own territory. He further warns
them that Milady and Primus are also after the Ocarina.
With Tranns' necklace, the team buy a wagon and horses and set out for Shaldani. After they leave, Primus pays
a call on Wiley. He beats information out of Wiley then kills him, reporting in to Milady with the necklace. She
announces every intention of intercepting them at Shaldani, certain the Ocarina is hidden in the remains of the Phoenix House.
Meanwhile, Percy and Thistle drive the wagon toward the destination while Tranns and Philip, nestled in the carriage, reflect
on their changing relationship and what changing the past means for it. They camp for the night, the four of them swapping
stories.
A few days later, the team arrive in Shaldani. As the Ebene barrier has been expanded to conquer other lands, its
power is stretched thin and magic is stronger than before. Using Casey's crystal to detect ether, they follow a trail
leading right back to the ruins of the Phoenix House. Digging their way through years of memory in the rubble, they
clear a route to the basement, still intact after the explosion that took the rest of the House down.
Tranns and Philip fall down a shaft to the basement where they discover the magically protected Hylian artifacts.
Just as they retrieve the Ocarina, however, Milady and Primus appear on the surface. Milady savagely kills Thistle.
As Primus attacks Percy, he holds the Ebene off, just long enough for Philip and Tranns to use the Ocarina to travel back
ten years.
In the present, Adriana is interviewing a refugee named Primus, interested in joining the kitchen staff. Suddenly,
the future versions of Tranns and Philip appear. They attempt to kill Primus, but Adriana screams, summoning half of
the Phoenix House. A fight breaks out, during which Philip manages to kill Primus. The truth is revealed before
the mists of Time sweep away the future versions of Philip and Tranns.
